I finished last night. Switched to DPN's while doing the first decrease & didn't put it down till I was done.

Here is the basic "pattern" (I first started making hats with a basic baby hat pattern, now I use what I got from that & put in my own little ideas as I do them) for this one.

I use circular size 6 needles & size 6 dpns when I decrease at the top.
Cast on 60 stitches
Knit every row for about an inch, to get that cute little roll up brim.
Purl a row.
Purl two together, yarn over, repeat to end.
Purl a row.
Knit till hat measures about 4.5 inches, then start decrease.
1st decrease row, knit 3, knit 2 tog. repeat. (switch to dpns on this row)
2nd & 3rd rows knit
4th decrease row, knit 2, knit 2 tog, repeat.
5th & 6th rows knit
7th decrease row, knit 1, knit 2 tog, repeat.
8th & 9th row knit.
10th + rows knit 2 tog till very few stitches are left (I had 5 left on this one) then cut off a long tail, draw thread through stitches & weave in ends.

I started the pastels one today. I am going to do it almost the same, but instead of just knitting after the 3 purl row I am going to alt knitting & purling somehow. I have not figured out exactly what i want to do yet, gotta knit up that first inch first ; )

I'm going to start another hat later. I am sooo dreading that first row!!!!!!!!! But I want to do several so I have to start ; )

I've been working on that baby blanket, no where near done but I got more yarn (another no dye lot of the blue & the white baby clouds) so I feel like I have more to work with now. I am also working on the hat to match it.

I also got some sugar & cream yarn, white & pastel, and another small size 6 circular needle to do baby hats. A local Crisis Pregnancy Center burned down last week and I'm hoping to do several little hats over the next few weeks before we do the annual "baby shower" at our church, which always benefits them. ALL their stuff burned (donated items) and they had no insurance. : (

If I could crochet I would do blankets too, but knitting blankets just takes too long and I am working on this one for J's cousin's baby.
