Why are children drawn to knitting needles? Is it just my boys?
   By Aisling at 2:09 PM

So I tried knitting on plastic needles last night, I didn't like it much. At first I thought it was the different type of yarn (Sport instead of Worsted Weight) but then I switched to same size metal needles and It was fine. La de da. Curious, is plastic OK to teach a child on? My sister wants to learn to knit. I seriously doubt I could teach her, but there is a friend at church who may do it, I'll just get her supplies and stuff. I was thinking about getting her one of those neat kid kits. I don't have the link anymore of the little one I saw before. but it was cute. She is 9. And oh so cute : )

Thanks Theresa ; )

Ok so you can Knit A Uterus I'm assuming this would be useful to midwives and stuff? Childbirth educators, doulas. Alright. Sounds kinda cool to me, but I am a birth junkie after all ; )

I got some of the stuff I "won" off EBay today. A bunch of needles in a big case. So cool. I'm like, wowd by all the different sizes and stuff. I told my mom "There are about twenty pairs of needles!" And she said "Hey you can work on 20 sweaters all at once" Ha ha. My mom is funny.

I got some yarn when we were at walmart doing grocery shopping today. I went to the craft section and about went nuts wanting to buy so much. I forgot to get fabric I meant to buy though, figures. It really stinks not having a license.

I think I'm going to put on the moving DH rented, and knit some ; )

Oh I still want to find an easy enough baby blanket to knit, so if you have a suggestion... let me know.

I'm feeling all wierd about this whole blog thing and people reading it now. Blah. I'm so shy you know. No, you probably don't.

So yeah. I am dissapointed cause theres a local handknitters guild and they meet nearby, like right near the highschool I went to, and I can't go to the next meeting. I have plans that night already. The topic, or whatever, of the meeting is even something for beginners so it would be perfect. Oh well, maybe next months will be even better.

I don't have much interesting to say tonight. I'm going to sleep. We have to go shopping tommorow, i'm hoping to convince my husband we should go to walmart, just cause they have the crafty fabrics etc section that I am so in love with. I can't wait till I can drive on my own.

i'm going to try these next. I like these little projects that I can see the results of fast. When I get more needles (ebayebayebay they are in the mail on their way) maybe I'll try something bigger, that way I can have little things going at the same time.

My three year old likes to wear the face/dish cloth on his head as a hat. He is very cute. I just love how he says Knitting, if I had a microphone hooked up to the computer I might record it so I could share. But I don't. So I guess I can't. Kids are lovely, I like being a mom.

Ok I refound the baby blanket pattern that I liked. Either the first or second one, I haev not decided yet but I do know that I don't want to do the last one cause I'm not sure I'm ready to do multi-colored anything yet ; )

Poor beginner me : )

I have been looking at patterns for awhile now, and can't figure out exactly what they mean when they say to "turn" your work. I'm going to keep browsing the internet, I've been able to find the answer to everything that has puzzled me so far.

Ok I finished the scarf way earlier tonight. I have not started anything else, I just keep casting on and then taking off stitches. Heh.
I want more yarn, I want different yarn for the baby blanket. There were some really nice soft ones at MJD. I can probably make it up there this weekend.
I would also love to try the five hour baby sweater, but i'm not sure I could do it. . .

Oh here are the photos, I almost forgot! One pic of it off the puppy, one of it on the puppy. I should post a close up of where I finally figured out the purl stitch, and worked a little pattern into it.

You know why I have not finished that little scarf for jer's little puppy? Cause I know there isn't anything for me to start on when I do finish. Yup. I think thats why. Well, there is things for me to start on (baby blanket for family friend whos specting in May/June, etc) but I only have a little yarn and one set of needles. When I have more needles, and more yarn, then I think things will be much more fun : ) if they are fun NOW hehe

Oh my. When I mean to type "Nursing Kieran" and accidently type "Knitting Kieran" what do you think that means?
: )

I Finally learned how to do the purl stich! I was doing it so wrong before. heh. But now I have it right, yay!
La la la I KNEW i had been doing it wrong. whew. thank goodness for about.com's knitting section! They had the best explanation.
   By Aisling at 5:07 PM

Ok now I am all caught up, that wasn't hard : )
I finished the facecloth yesterday, sooooooo now what do I do? I keep looking at the empty knitting needles wanting to do something. I'm supposed to knit Jeric's little puppy a scarf, guess that is what I'll do today. Then I will search for something else ; )

I won an ebay auction of some knitting needles, so I'll have a few more different sizes.

New Project, FaceCloth. I am halfway done with this! I'm so excited. I often post about my progress in my blog. I will have pics soon. I used a pretty blue fabric (Red Heart Kids worsted weight--i'm not sure if its what your SUPPOSED to use for this kinda thing, but it's all I had...) and it looks sooo nice. Even with the few little mistakes :)

More than halfway done Knitting in progress
   By Aisling at 12:45 PM

After doing a couple of practice pieces to learn the basic stitches, and binding off, I picked out a pattern that looked simple enough. (It has been, so far, but there is one part that I am going to have a hard time with I just know it!) I didn't understand what "gauge" meant when I started, so I'm sure it will be a bit off-oops. Now that I understand that better my next project will be better :)

I don't have a needle thingi to sew the pieces together so I had to set this one aside until I can get one.

Knit baby set: Cap
   By Aisling at 12:44 PM

The beginning

The end of Feb 2002 I decided to learn how to knit.
I went to MJDesigns, bought myself some yarn, knitting needles, and a learn to knit book.
I was overwhelmed with everything that was in front of me!
I have found knitting to be a relaxing hobby, and I love the fact that I am producing stuff.
There seem to be endless possibilities, judging from all the patterns and things I have seen as
I surf the internet to knitting sites.

I am way too tired to do much more with this tonight. I got it started, that is always the hard part, wait when it comes to me and webpages that is the easy part. Anyway, I will work on it more if I find time tommorow.
