Jas never finished watching Dune, he started to but then he got sick of it. I didn't really knit at all last night. I thought I would get to because the boys went to bed at the same time, but well I learned to wait and see. Kier was up really fast!
Anyway I wanted to share (remind those of you who have been doing this for a long time!) what a very new begginners yarn "Stash" (I can't even call it that after some of the photos I have seen!) looks like. Four skeins of yarn, all red heart, I can't wait to go shopping. hehe. Reccomend?
Also, here is the strip so far. It was supposed to be seed stitch but I messed up so it's kinda like this after the first few knit rows,
row 1 kp (repeat all the way) row 2 pk row 3 kp row 4 pk row 5 kp start over again. and again. hehe.
I have a question though, would it matter if I did a different pattern on other strips for the same blanket? I don't think it would matter to my son, but would it look awful. I figure this is a good way for me to learn ya know?
I took pics of the baby blanket too but I'll post those later. We have non-computer things to do now : )
My husband rented Dune 2000 so I got a lot of knitting time last night, just sitting next to him. I really wasn't interested in the movie (or series, whatever it is) and he knows it so he didn't bother me about the light being on or not paying attention. : )
How did I use the knitting time? Well, I had read somewhere (I think in the knitters review forums) about a strip afghan. So I started a strip. I'm going to get more colors and make a bunch of them, the width of a twin bed, until I have enough for the length of it. Jer LOVES blankets, so this will be just for him. He already has tons (and has claimed my favorite bedspread), but hey a mommy made one will be great right?
I did one row on the baby blanket. I don't want to finish it. That is why I started the strip. Also, so that I could practice different stitches. I decided to kpkp down each row, but I started by knitting four rows for the beginning. Then I started the kp (I think this is seed stitch?) and realized I had an odd number of stitches (accidently cast on 19 rather than 20). After 5 rows I got up to do some stuff, and when I sat down again I was confused about where I had left off so I started with K again. Woops. So after those five rows I did the same thing. I have three sets of five done now, and I am going to do some more today.
I almost signed my name to this post. Like it is email or something. I'm going to go post to the new group!!!
Ok so I picked up the stiches, kept on knitting. Looked at it after about two rows and there was SOMETHING not right. I didn't know what so I ripped out a couple rows and discovered i had turned it at one point and re-knit the stitches I had just done. Woops. I often jump up in the middle of a row to deal with one of the boys, so I guess I got confused when I sat down again. And yeah, I am still working on getting it fixed up and it still looks silly.
I'm seriously considering doing my decreasing, and letting the boys have it as a baby doll blanket.
Now. My baby is asleep so I am going to give my knitting a good hour with no interuptions. Dream come true, isn't it?
I have had a really busy weekend, sick kids, not much time for knitting. Hopefully this week will be more productive!
What I was working on was pulled off the needles, I have not looked to see if I "rescued" it properly. I am afraid to ; )
